Modern Problems Require Modern Solutions

Semester 1

2023/24

Grade 7 - Charitable organisations

This PBL was aimed at providing students with a deeper understanding of the various roles charitable organisations occupy in solving issues across the globe while increasing their awareness of a wide range of societal issues. The goal of the project was to provide students with an understanding of what actions can be taken to mitigate or lessen their impact of these issues.

  • Students learned how charitable organisations raise funds and how these funds are spent.

  • Students planned their own charitable organisation and propose an action plan to raise funds.

Grade 8 - Modern problems require modern solutions

In groups, students will research a problem that faces the world and choose a technology that could help solve that problem.
Students will create a 5-10 minute presentation on the problem and solution they chose, accompanied by a creative product or device of their chosen technology. Students will be given creative freedom when choosing their problems and technology.

  • Students must first identify the problem they are trying to solve.

  • From here they need to create and build realistic solutions for these problems.

Grade 9 - Bangkok of the future

The aim of this PBL is for students to create inventions that can positively impact Bangkok in the future.  Students will produce solutions to problems facing Bangkok now, in hopes of improving the city for future generations.  Students will create realistic solutions to problems facing the city now and in the future, in hopes of improving the lives of everyone living here.

  • Students will design schematics for the invention and create surveys and graphs on their topic.

  • Students are encouraged to think creatively about how to approach their chosen topic while also creating a realistic solution and invention.
