2025 Grade 7 Hands-on Learning
Science: Microscope Lab
In this Grade 7 Science laboratory activity, students were introduced to the use of microscopes and the techniques scientists employ to observe objects that cannot be seen clearly with the naked eye. Students learned how to prepare specimens, adjust magnification levels, and focus microscopes correctly to obtain clear observations.
Working in groups, students examined a variety of samples and recorded their findings through labelled drawings and scientific observations. The activity helped students develop practical laboratory skills while gaining a deeper appreciation for the microscopic world. Through hands-on investigation, students strengthened their observation, communication, and scientific inquiry skills.
Science: Photosynthesis Lab
In this Grade 7 Science investigation, students explored the process of photosynthesis and the essential role it plays in sustaining life on Earth. Through a series of hands-on activities, students examined how plants use sunlight, water, and carbon dioxide to produce food and release oxygen.
Working collaboratively, students observed plant specimens, collected evidence, and analysed the factors that affect photosynthesis. The laboratory activity helped students connect theoretical knowledge to real-world biological processes while developing their observation, recording, and scientific inquiry skills. Through experimentation and discussion, students gained a deeper understanding of how plants support ecosystems and life on our planet.
Maths: Puzzles & Games
In this Grade 7 Mathematics elective, students explored mathematical concepts through a variety of puzzles, games, and problem-solving challenges. Working individually and in teams, students applied logical reasoning, pattern recognition, and strategic thinking to solve increasingly complex tasks.
The activities encouraged students to view mathematics as a creative and engaging subject while developing perseverance, communication, and critical thinking skills. By tackling non-routine problems and participating in collaborative challenges, students strengthened their mathematical confidence and discovered multiple approaches to finding solutions.
Salt Dough Mapping
In this cross-curricular project, students researched countries from around the world and created detailed three-dimensional maps using salt dough. By carefully shaping landforms and geographical features, students transformed their research into colourful models that highlighted the unique characteristics of their chosen country.
The project combined geography, creativity, and hands-on design as students explored topics such as physical features, culture, landmarks, and national identity. Through research, model construction, and presentation, students developed their understanding of global diversity while strengthening their communication, collaboration, and creative thinking skills.
